Children’s Grief and Bereavement Program – Music Therapy

Children’s Grief and Bereavement Program – Music Therapy

Nova Scotia
Spring 2025

Many children and youth in the Halifax region who experience significant loss struggle to process their grief in healthy ways, often feeling isolated and emotionally overwhelmed. Hospice Halifax's music therapy grief support program addresses this gap by offering a safe, therapeutic space for children and youth (ages 5-15) to engage in creative expression and foster emotional healing. The program will use songwriting, listening, and other activities to help participants process their emotions and develop coping skills. With the expansion of resources, including new instruments and an iPad for memory projects, the program will now serve more children, reduce waitlists, and provide ongoing mental health support to young people during crucial developmental years.
